Anniversary gifts by year
Two lists overlap whenever someone asks "what’s the gift for [N] years?": the traditional list, codified in the late 1800s, and the modern list, updated by the American National Retail Jeweler Association in 1937 and lightly revised since. Use whichever feels right; nobody is keeping score.

Pairing tradition with the catalog
If you’re shopping the milestone years, the catalog speaks the same language as the chart above. Some shortcuts:
- Ruby anniversary (40th) — see the ruby pieces in our gemstone collection. Ask about origin; Burmese rubies hold value best.
- Sapphire anniversary (45th, 65th) — Ceylon cornflower is the everyday luxury pick; Montana teal sapphires read more personal.
- Pearl anniversary (30th) — choose Akoya for round, classic strands; Tahitian for darker dramatic singles.
- Diamond years (10th, 60th, 75th) — see the diamond shape guide for what flatters whom.
